Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center awarded $81,000 SCL Health Montana Region grant for integration of care Miles City, Montana (May 11, 2021) – Nearly 30% of all hospital admissions in Eastern Montana from 2010-2014 had at least one diagnosis for a mental disorder, according to the Montana DPHHS Office of Epidemiology and Scientific Support. To support the need for more mental health services in Eastern Montana, SCL Health Montana has awarded the Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center (EMCMHC) with an $81,000 grant to develop and implement an integrated model of care that will address behavioral health in the hospital setting.
“Mental health is a serious concern across Montana, especially in the eastern part of the state. Holy Rosary Healthcare is committed to addressing the mental and behavioral health needs in our community. We’re pleased to provide funding support for this collaborative project to support and care for our most vulnerable residents,” said Karen Costello, President of SCL Health – Holy Rosary Healthcare.
Caring for the Whole Person, is a collaborative approach between partnering entities – EMCMHC, Rimrock Foundation, and Holy Rosary Healthcare. These partners will bring enhanced resources and systems of care to the Emergency department, Acute, Post-Acute and Long Term Care settings at Holy Rosary Healthcare. The goal of this project is to detect, successfully treat, and prevent the escalation of behavioral health needs that co-occur and can become exacerbated with physical health issues that can lead to further decline.
“We are excited to have this collaboration and thankful for the support of SCL Health Montana Region as we all work together to provide the best physical and mental health care possible to residents of this region,” said Brenda Kneeland, CEO of EMCMHC.
Caring for the Whole Person will bring certified peer support specialists and therapists into the primary care setting at Holy Rosary Healthcare, with implementation taking place over the next couple of months.
